The magnificent pageant of a tournament between knights fighting with their lances, showing their skills, proclaiming their undying love for the mistress of their heart, haunts the mind of the modern warrior who reaches into the Past to discover his future (ruins-castle). This "servant d'amour", who fought his battles in far away places, always dreamed of his return to his land and his love (running man towards his woman-rock), while, in the Orient, the samurai took his ideal woman nestled in his mind (female figures embedded in the rock and its shadow outline the head and shoulder of the samurai) and fought for honour and glory under the mantle of death. Both jousted with their emotions (mannequin), they both engaged in combat, but often the one came back to live and the other stayed to win and die. It is the stone that separates them in space, it is the bird that unites them in time.
