Il Fantino Solitario
Il Fantino Solitario
Oil on canvas, 1980/81 50cm x 60cm (20" x 24")

Artist's Interpretation:

Within the limits of the canvas man's dreams and aspirations break the boundaries of space and time. "Il Fantino" rides his horse with his heart and his mind filled with dreams, dreams reflected in the clouds, always changing, moving across the infinite blue, casting their shadow on the landscape of the soul. "Il Fantino" will keep on riding as long as he can dream. Thus is the destiny of man: without dreams, he has no life. Like the eagle (upper right corner) he soars in the sky, like the die (lower right) he chances life, while new dreams await their flight (stone-embryo at lower left side). Only the Canadian goose (upper right corner) reminds the spectator of the place where the painting was created and the number three (3), the third letter of the alphabet, identifies its creator who uses perspective in terms of time and whose shadows denote the passing of time.
